Mary Katherine Mawyer's Bachelorette Party

MK in her Bride shirt at their house before the Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties went their separate ways.

Yes, that IS what's on her shirt, and it's flashing!

MK handing out our pins. I got the Party Girl pin. Go figure.

Diane (MK's mom) helping Sandra (Justin's mom) put on her Mother of the Groom sash. Diane made a sash for each of us.

Diane, Sandra, MK and Lindsay handing out sashes, pins, and tiaras.

I think everybody in the place bought MK at least one shot.

Lindsay doing some fantastic karaoke!

Diane had a game that involved dares. The first dare was to get a guy to take his shirt off. We got two, and one girl. She had two shirts on. ;-)

Dare #2 was to get a condom from a stranger. They asked a ton of people before finding one.

Finally, success!

MK and Laina cuttin a rug.

Who IS this dude? He sang a few songs for MK. He's quite possibly the Worst Singer in the World.

Our cranky waiter.

These two girls wanted to watch football, which meant we couldn't karaoke. They were total mean witches. We won.

This guy volunteered to give MK an amateur strip tease.

I don't know what to say, except, "Don't quit your day job!!"

Laina, MK and Diane

Every Bachelorette must do the Blowjob shot.

No hands!

When it was all over, there was whipped cream everywhere and a busted shot glass on the floor.

Well, that's all folks. We had a great time!

Alicia Medialdea

Since the end of June, I've been hosting the Chaperone of a group of 10 students from Madrid, Spain. Her name is Alicia and we've been having a blast! She's very outgoing, happy and has a great sense of humor. She's here for her "vacation MONTH". In Madrid, she's a Nuclear Physicist who teaches Belly Dancing in her spare time. We've gone hiking (a few times), to the Phantom of the Opera in DC, and tubing on the James River, among other things.

The students are going to classes in the morning and to activities in the afternoon, like to malls around town, swimming in the river, to a Braves game, Water Country, DC, Virginia Beach, and Busch Gardens.

Alicia's leaving to go back in 5 days. I'm really going to miss her. Anyway, here are a few photos from the past month:

Bryan (from work), Alicia and I at Martini's and Bubbles in Richmond.

Our superfancy martinis: my Dirty Martini, Alicia's Cosmopolitan, and Bryan's Bourbon and something with a cherry.

Easter Snow!

It's the first time in 17 years that it's snowed in Richmond in April. This was the scene at my house this morning.

Monument Avenue 10k 2007

This year, MK and I participated in the Group Costume Contest in the Monument Avenue 10k with my coworker, Bryan, and his friends (The Gutterpunks.) We wore togas and carried a homemade Sedan Chair, complete with chalice carrying princess. For those of you who haven't heard the story yet, here is the before picture...

and here is one close to the end of the race......

The contraption was so heavy that the princess had to get out and walk and we were passed by nearly EVERYONE. All in all, it was fun, but maybe we'll make a less elaborate costume next year!
